Biography

Cody Unkart is a painter, printmaker, and instructor who has taught at the University of South Carolina and Columbia College. He received his BA from Coastal Carolina University and his MFA in painting and printmaking from the University of South Carolina. His work has been exhibited regionally in group and solo shows, including Sumter Collects III 2023, New Works 2022 at the Columbia Music Festival Association, as well as the ArtFields 2017 and SCETV Face group shows. In 2015, his work was awarded Third Place at Black Creek Arts Council (BCAC) National Juried Exhibition, as well as Honorable Mention in the 26th Annual Juried Competition Arts Council of York County. He was awarded Best in Show in Coastal Carolina University’s 2014 Art Studio: Portfolios (Senior Exhibition).

He currently serves as a board member with the Columbia Music Festival Association. In 2022, he juried for Art Fields Jr. He has also led traditional printmaking demonstrations at the Young Artist Festival with the 701 Center for Contemporary Art (2015-2022).
